Why join and become a member of the UKCCC?
What is it like to be a member of the UKCCC?
Why join this community you might ask yourself when life is so busy and it’s just another meeting to go to? Maybe the wordcloud sums it up for me created by many of our members in 2023.
The UKCCC is a vehicle for coming together of likeminded people who are passionate about teaching communication skills and the wider impact of these skills on the medical consultation. We come from a mixed group of professions and specialties but have core values around promoting good practice for the future. How we communicate with each other has changed over the years and the undergraduate medical curriculum has had to adapt with it. With representatives from the majority of medical schools across the UK we have constant cross pollination of ideas, sharing of best practice, networking opportunities and a wonderful sense of professional friendships that stay with us always.
Each medical school has its own identity but being part of a wider community brings opportunities to look outwards and ensure our students have the best opportunity to develop skills fit for their future practice.
